Arizona's government is bloated with inefficiencies that drain taxpayer dollars—your hard-earned money—without delivering results. As we discussed, the biggest wastes lurk in healthcare fraud (like the ongoing $2.5 billion AHCCCS sober-living scam), education hoarding ($7.8 billion in unspent funds amid declining enrollment), unconstitutional corporate subsidies ($100+ million annually violating the Gift Clause), and prison system overruns ($50+ million from failed private contracts). Even in 2025, under Gov. Hobbs' budget, efforts to reduce waste through better employee engagement and streamlined operations are a start, but they fall short—global disengagement costs trillions, and Arizona's share means lost productivity we can't afford. This isn't just numbers; it's betrayal of the trust. As your trustee in the Arizona House, I'll champion audits, enforce the Gift Clause to end crony handouts, and redirect savings to priorities like clean water and veteran services. No more $231 million discrepancies in unemployment records or $28.9 million in unexpended federal education funds reverting to Washington. We'll build efficiency that boosts prosperity—cutting red tape so small businesses thrive, not survive. 2. Elimination of Income Taxes: Your Money, Your Freedom
Arizona's flat income tax is already down to 2.5%—a win from recent reforms—but it's time to finish the job and eliminate it entirely. Why? Because taxing your labor violates the spirit of our biblical-inspired Constitution, which protects property and rewards diligence. States like Florida and Texas prove zero income tax attracts jobs, families, and investment—why not Arizona?Proposals to phase it out are gaining steam, but opposition from big-government advocates like Gov. Hobbs, who vetoed automatic cuts, stalls progress. I'll fight for full elimination, starting with exemptions for tipped wages and accelerating reductions, ensuring no revenue shortfalls by slashing waste first. This means more take-home pay for retirees in our district, lower costs for rural families, and a boom in economic resolve. No more funding distant bureaucrats—your prosperity, unlocked.
3. Promoting Free Enterprise: Igniting Entrepreneurship, Especially for Our Youth
Free enterprise is the engine that built America—from pioneers settling the West to innovators creating empires. In LD1, where tourism, mining, and small businesses drive our economy, we'll promote it by reducing regulations, offering startup incentives, and celebrating risk-takers. But let's focus on the future: Our youth.Too many young Arizonans face skyrocketing college costs and degrees that don't guarantee jobs—over 40% seek alternatives like trades or entrepreneurship. I'll expand programs that empower them: Partner with Junior Achievement of Arizona for financial literacy and startup skills; boost ASU's Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute for K-12 innovators; support the Aspiring Youth Academy to break poverty cycles through business mindset; and promote events like the University of Arizona's Entrepreneurship Summer Academy or the Black Chamber's Elevate Youth Summit. Imagine apprenticeships in local trades, tax credits for youth startups, and school curricula teaching real-world business over rote learning.This isn't government dependency—it's biblical stewardship: "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord" (Colossians 3:23).
